Panel expert meeting | Fit for 55: How the EU intends to achieve increased reduction targets

30.6.2021

Event

In mid-July, the European Commission will announce one of the biggest legislative packages, Fit for 55. It will aim to put the EU on the path to faster reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, so that the Union can achieve the agreed goal of at least 55% reduction in 2030.

The European Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) is to be reformed. Even more needs to be done to reduce emissions from buildings and transport, so the Commission wants to make proposals on carbon pricing for these sectors. All this will have an impact on the low-carbon energy, heating and transport transformation, but also on fuel and energy prices.
